Research: 3 minute wonder

Research - 3 Minute Wonder

3 Minute Wonder is a short Channel 4 television slot that broadcasts first time directors' three-minute TV programmes in the middle of the channel's weekday prime time schedule. It offers first-time directors and assistant producers the opportunity to air their work to a large audience, and in doing so, to take a first step into the competitive UK film industry.
The types of topics you can expect a 3 minute wonder to be about is usually something upsetting and or negative, such as cancer, disease. But sometimes its also kind of spoofy like spray painting or replacing hot dogs with carrots.

My 3 favourite 3 minute wonders -
Elisa - it's eye opening to hear how lucky we all are just to have the simple things that others don't have. I learned how lucky I am.
Pure Evil - its interesting to hear what things other people take joy in doing, like spray painting. I learned that some people take small seeming hobbies seriously.
Carrot Crew - it's funny and creative. I didn't really learn anything as it is for humour.

The times that 3 minute wonders are shown are usually at peak times on both Channel 4 and ITV, in between 2 shows, basically during the advert time. Not many documentaries are shown, a few David Attenburgh ones at peaks times but that's really it on both channels.

Documentaries get around 14.07% of overall audience viewing, which is the 3rd highest viewed genre, so obviously they're very popular.
